PMLN leader announces support for PTI candidate in by poll for NA-148

Multan- In Multan’s NA-148 by-election, a dramatic shift has occurred as former Federal Minister and key Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz member Sikander Hayat Bosan announced his support for the independent candidate Barrister Malik Taimur Altaf, who is backed by both Pakistan Sunni Council and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf. Although Bosan remains a PML-N member and has no plans to join PTI, he expressed dissatisfaction with PML-N’s decision to support PPP’s candidate Syed Ali Qasim Gilani and criticized the Gilani family, particularly former Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani’s sons, accusing them of corruption and self-interest. Bosan insists that the election practices need reform and stated his opposition to the PPP candidate is based on principle. Bosan also revealed that when Yousuf Raza Gilani became Prime Minister in 2008, he had initiated investigations against him, ranging from local land record offices in Multan to the National Accountability Bureau, but no evidence was found. Bosan further criticized the type of politics practiced by Gilani’s sons, questioning how any conscientious person could support the Gilani group given their political conduct.

The by-election fills the seat vacated by Yousuf Raza Gilani, who left after becoming the Chairman of the Senate.
