Police rescue stranded Swiss tourist in Chitral mountains

The police came to the aid of a Swiss tourist who found himself trapped in the rugged terrain of Chitral.

The ordeal began when Amandio, a tourist from Switzerland, lost contact while navigating the treacherous Orghoch mountain track en route to Kailash Wadi Rambur in Lower Chitral, situated at an altitude of approximately 6,550 feet above sea level. As rain and snowfall intensified, Amandio sought refuge in a cattle shed to shield himself from the harsh weather conditions.

Despite the challenging circumstances, the police sprang into action, coordinating a rescue mission involving personnel from the Lower Chitral police station Rambor, the Foreigner Registration Office, and the District Security Branch. Braving heavy rain and navigating through perilous mountain terrain, the rescue team located the stranded tourist around 2 am.

Amandio, visibly relieved and grateful, expressed his gratitude to the police for their prompt response and efficient rescue operation. The foreign tourist had been understandably distressed by the isolation and adverse weather conditions, exacerbated by the breakdown of mobile communication due to the inclement weather.

The police underscored the perilous conditions in the mountains, with incessant rain intensifying the cold and rendering mountain tracks even more hazardous.
