On the direction of Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, PPP leaders visited the house of Bhagchand Meghwar, a victim of alleged police torture, on Tuesday, in Shahbaz Colony of Mithi town.

The PPP leaders, including a former senator and district president of the PPP Tharparkar chapter, Engineer Gyanchand Tharani, MPA Fakir Sher Mohammad Bilalani, Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan, Nandlal Malhi, Shushil Malani, Arbab Ameer Amanullah and others met the family members of the alleged victim and assured them their full support. The PPP leaders said that they had arrived to collect details from them on the directions of their party chairman who, according to them, had taken strong notice of the incident of extrajudicial murder.

The PPP leaders assured the family that they would try their best to support them in getting justice. Jay Kumar, the complainant of the case and other relatives deplored that not only police officials made inordinate delay in the registration of the murder FIR against PPP leader (president of ladies wing in Tharparkar) Samtra Manjani, SHO Mithi Police Station Mohammad Soomar Mangrio and other influential figures but also showed serious apprehensions on the initial postmortem report. They alleged that Manjani was directly involved in the arrest of the victim and the brutal torture he faced during detention at Mithi Police Station. They said that police had arrested and tortured him at the behest of Manjani on a false charge of theft and demanded a fresh inquiry into the incident.
