President Asif Zardari advocates comprehensive measures against heart diseases

President Asif Ali Zardari has emphasized the urgent need for concerted efforts to combat cardiovascular diseases within Pakistan.

In a recent meeting with a delegation from the Pakistan National Heart Association (PANAH), headed by Major General (retd) Masudur Rehman, President Zardari stressed the significance of raising awareness and implementing comprehensive strategies to prevent heart ailments across the nation.

During the gathering at Aiwan-e-Sadr, President Zardari underscored the importance of educating the populace about adopting healthier lifestyles to mitigate the prevalence of heart diseases.

Expressing his concern over the escalating rates of cardiovascular ailments, he advocated for the establishment of a robust Heart and Non-Communicable Diseases prevention program. Specifically, he called for measures to mandate the display of health advisories detailing the sugar content in carbonated and sugary beverages.

The delegation leader briefed President Zardari on PANAH’s pivotal role in disseminating information regarding heart diseases and their associated risk factors among the general public.

PANAH, he explained, has been actively engaged in efforts to prevent, minimize, and manage fatalities resulting from conditions such as angina, heart failure, and heart attacks. Additionally, PANAH has focused on educating individuals on recognizing cardiac arrest symptoms and administering Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) to save lives.

Moreover, PANAH has extended its support to victims of natural disasters and provided medical assistance to impoverished patients and children.

President Zardari commended PANAH for its efforts in promoting cardiac health and advocating for healthier lifestyles.
