Price of petrol reaches all-time high of Rs234 per litre

The government has once again increased the price of petrol, effective from June 16.

Finance mInister Miftah Ismail announced in a press conference on Wednesday an increment of Rs24 to petrol.

Petrol price has been increased by a whopping Rs84 per litre in three weeks.

The price of petrol has now reached an all-time high of Rs234 per litre.

Meanwhile, diesel price increased by Rs59, reaching the all-time high of Rs263 per litre.

On June 2, just a week after increasing the petrol prices and on the same day as the increase in the price of electricity, the government pushed up petrol prices by Rs30 per litre.

Finance Minister Miftah Ismail announced that the federal government had decided to increase the prices of all petroleum products.

The minister said that they were talking with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), but could not accept all their demands. However, on specific points, the government had to agree, he added.
