Prime Minister decides to continue relief package for utility stores

Islamabad: The utility stores Ramazan package has ended and the Prime Minister has decided to continue the relief package.

According to sources, under the Prime Minister’s relief package subsidies will be maintained on five essential items: sugar, flour, ghee, pulses and rice for BISP beneficiaries.

Under the Prime Minister’s relief package, approximately Rs. 3 billion worth of subsidies will be provided monthly. For utility store BISP beneficiaries, the price of sugar will be Rs. 109 per kilogram and a 10-kilogram bag of flour will be available for Rs. 648.

Sources revealed that the price of ghee has been set at Rs. 393 per kilogram for utility store BISP beneficiaries and a subsidy of Rs. 25 per kilogram will be provided on pulses and rice for BISP beneficiaries.

It was further stated that the plan is to continue the Prime Minister’s package for utility stores until June 2024 and the decision regarding continuing the Prime Minister’s package for the next fiscal year will be made by the federal government.
