Prime suspect of gun attack on Chinese citizens in Karachi arrested

The prime suspect of a gun attack on Chinese citizens that killed one Chinese in Karachi has been arrested.

Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the prime suspect of the attack was arrested as a result of the collective investigation of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh and other institutions.

A Chinese national was killed in a gun attack while two had been injured inside a dental clinic in Saddar Karachi on September 28.

According to provincial information minister, the suspect apparently belonged to banned Sindh Peoples Army (SRA). He also said that the suspect was arrested by using the help of latest technology and 100 CCTV cameras.

The motorcycle used in the attack has also been recovered by the law enforcement agencies whereas the suspect has admitted that he was part of the banned outfit, Sharjeel Memon has said.

Sharjeel further said that the purpose of attack was to spread terror and the attackers had no enmity with the Chinese. He also said that a team had been formed for action against the accomplices of the terrorists. Congratulating LEAs, he said that the attack was an attempt to block foreign investment in Karachi.

The provincial information minister also said that two Da’esh terrorists were also killed a few days ago. He also stated that the suspects in Kharadar attack had also been arrested. He further stated that terrorists were being controlled by people in foreign countries.

Speaking about Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman, he said that Imran Khan was doing nothing less than a banned organization as such groups also wanted to destabilize Pakistan.
