PTI workers protest ‘political victimisation’ in Nagarparkar

Say PPP leaders have let loose ‘reign of terror’ on their opponents using police

Several hundred Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers and supporters took to the streets in the hilly town of Nagarparkar to register their protest against the political victimisation being faced by their candidates during the ongoing local bodies election in the desert district.

The enraged and charged workers after marching on different streets gathered at the office of returning officers (RO) and raised slogans against the police officials and Pakistan Peoples Party’s leaders from the region.

Arbab Anwar Jabbar, Mohammad Rahim Khosoo, Hero Kolhi and others and other leaders of the protesting workers of PTI lashed out at PPP lawmakers and leaders for getting their candidates and supporters implicated in false and fabricated cases on flimsy charges just to keep them away from the voting process.

They alleged that PPP MPA Qasim Siraj Soomro, Special Assistant to Chief Minister Advocate Veerji Kolhi and others had let loose a reign of terror on their opponents through Tharparkar police.

“The registration of the FIRs against senior leader Abdul Ghani Khoso and his close aides has exposed the true face of the two PPP leaders in the Parkar region,” they added.

The protesting leaders further claimed that one of the independent candidates Jagsi Kolhi was kidnapped by Veerji and his armed men and kept at Soomro House, where he was forced to retire in favour of PPP’s candidate a few days ago.

“When Khoso and others went to Soomro House to hold talks with Kolhi and other captives they were not only tortured by their armed men but were later implicated in an FIR on concocted charges,” they alleged.

They said that another FIR was registered against Khoso and his aides on the complaint of Kolhi that they had tried to kidnap him from the house of PPP MPA Qasim Soomro. The PTI leaders said that Kolhi was kidnapped, held hostage and then drugged by Veerji during his illegal detention at Soomro House for several hours.

They alleged that PPP leaders wanted to shed blood in the peaceful desert region during the LB polls and demanded the deployment of the army at the polling stations of the district.

Estranged PPP leader Abdul Ghani Khoso, who is contesting LB polls for the seat of district council from union council Harro of Parkar area, was forced to revolt against the party after he was denied a party ticket. Khoso said that the recent startling revelation made by Jagsi Kolhi had exposed the true face of Veerji.

He said that the PPP leadership was giving undue importance to people like Advocate Kolhi whom they (PPP leaders) had gotten freed from jail after paying blood money. He demanded a judicial probe into the cases registered against him and others.
