Punjab Chief Minister directs precautionary measures ahead of anticipated rainfall

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken proactive steps in anticipation of potential rainfall across the province, including the capital city Lahore. With heavy rains forecasted until April 29, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has instructed commissioners, deputy commissioners, and the Managing Director of the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) to remain vigilant and ready for drainage operations.

Stating the need for preparedness, Maryam Nawaz directed all concerned officers to be actively engaged in their respective roles, ensuring round-the-clock coverage. She stressed the importance of utilizing all available resources for effective drainage systems, particularly in Lahore and other urban centers, to maintain uninterrupted traffic flow.

In addition to drainage efforts, Maryam Nawaz urged traffic wardens to be proactive in assisting citizens and facilitating smooth movement on the roads. She stated the importance of rescue services being on high alert and stated the timely relocation of residents from low-lying areas to safer locations.

Moreover, she stressed the necessity of collaborating with alert services to ensure efficient response and safeguarding of livestock in rural regions. These comprehensive measures underscore the government’s commitment to ensuring public safety and minimizing the potential impact of adverse weather conditions.
