Punjab government introduces new formula to control inflation

The Punjab government has introduced a new formula. A widespread crackdown on hoarders and smugglers of essential commodities has been initiated across Punjab with directives issued to 36 deputy commissioners by the Directorate of Industries.

The deputy commissioners have been provided with a list of individuals involved in trading sugar, rice, pulses, fertilizers and other commodities. Furthermore, orders have been issued to seize the stores of 40 individuals engaged in hoarding.

However, some sources claim that government agencies have only targeted small traders while turning a blind eye to major hoarders. Many big hoarders remain unlisted raising questions about the effectiveness of the crackdown.

Meanwhile, businesspersons have voiced their concerns demanding that the government apprehend major stockists and smugglers. They argue that merely targeting small traders will not address the root cause of inflation.

This latest move by the Punjab government reflects its determination to curb inflation and ensure the availability of essential goods to the public. However, it remains to be seen how effectively the measures will be implemented and whether they will lead to a tangible reduction in prices for consumers.
