Punjab Textbook Board is closing down

Education Minister Sikandar Hayat has revealed plans for a comprehensive overhaul of Punjab’s educational system.

As part of this initiative, the Punjab Curriculum and Textbook Board (PCTB) will be dissolved, and multiple educational institutions will be merged into a single entity.

This restructuring aims to enhance efficiency and streamline governance, with Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz assuming direct oversight.

The merger will encompass the textbook board, Punjab Education Commission, and teacher training institutions.

Furthermore, a dedicated department will be established under the Chief Minister’s supervision to oversee all aspects of education.

Collaboration with private educational institutions will be encouraged to foster expertise exchange. Minister Hayat emphasized the involvement of educators and stakeholders in the reform process, particularly in curriculum development, to ensure high standards.

Continuous feedback from teachers and students will be solicited to improve educational materials, reflecting the government’s commitment to excellence in Punjab’s education sector.
