Quetta Blast: One killed, 14 injured in tragic attack

A man was killed and 14 others including two children were injured in a grenade attack targeting roadside stalls selling Pakistan’s national flag, late on Thursday night at the Joint Road Square close to Raisani Road in Quetta.

According to the police, unidentified motorcycles targeted the stands selling flags and other decorations in light of the approaching Independence Day. One man was killed and 14 people were hurt when the explosive went off close to the stalls.

The attackers left the area after the attack. Police officers and members of the Frontier Corps arrived on the scene quickly and moved the injured and dead to a nearby hospital.

A spokesman for Quetta’s Civil Hospital, Dr. Wasim Baig, told the media that one body and 14 injured were received at the hospital.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) City Shoukat Janjwa, the individual who died in the grenade attack was identified as Surat Khan. Khan was reportedly buying national flags when the explosion occurred, while the injured were primarily merchants.
