Risk of dengue spread after rainfall and floods in KP

The Health Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has expressed concerns about the potential spread of dengue following recent rainfall and floods in the province.

In light of the concerns about the potential spread of dengue following recent rainfall and floods in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial Health Department has prepared an action plan for dengue prevention and control. This action plan has been submitted for approval to the Chief Secretary and directives have been issued to establish a Dengue Control Room in the Directorate General Health Services.

According to the action plan, attention will be given to timely disposal of dengue larvae and 1,240 beds will be allocated in government hospitals for dengue patients.

Under the action plan, 300 beds will be designated for dengue patients in government hospitals in Peshawar and separate wards will be allocated for dengue patients in MTI hospitals.

A Dengue Control Room will also be established in the Directorate General Health Services and the services of the Municipal Department and PDMA will be enlisted for dengue prevention and control efforts.
