Sanaullah complains to COAS on role of DG ANF and others

Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has complained to the army chief over the role of the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) and former advisor to Prime Minister Imran Khan on accountability regarding the drug case against him.

Talking on a TV program, Sanaullah said that former PM Imran Khan, Shahzad Akbar and former Director-General ANF Major General Arif Malik had filed a fake case of 15 kilograms of heroin possession against him.

Alleging Akbar was in possession of a bag carrying 15kg heroin that he had asked Islamabad police to plant in Sanaullah’s room at Parliament Lodges he claimed that former DG ANF was involved in the matter for which he had got benefits in return.

He told that he had written a letter to the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) as well as had complained to him in person over the role of ANF. He said that the army would investigate the matter in its own method of investigation.

He also said that former cabinet members Fawad Chaudhry, Ijaz Shah and Tariq Bashir Cheema had called the case a hoax in a cabinet meeting.

Rana Sanullah was arrested by ANF in July 2019 over claims of recovery of 15kg heroin from his vehicle when he was travelling from Faisalabad to Lahore. Later he was granted bail by Lahore High Court (LHC) on December 24, 2019.
