Sentencing Nawaz on Iqama in Panama case was a mistake: Aleema Khan

Aleema Khan, sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, expressed her opinion that the judges made an error in penalizing Nawaz Sharif over the Iqama issue in the Panama case.

Speaking to reporters outside the Islamabad High Court (IHC), Aleema Khan remarked that the letter from six judges has shed light on various matters. She said that without a firm commitment to justice from the judiciary, true justice cannot prevail. Today, it is imperative for lawyers to stand in solidarity with these judges.

Imran Khan’s sister pointed out that there was a judicial error in the Panama case. She clarified that Nawaz Sharif was not convicted in the original case but rather on the basis of the Iqama issue. Had there been a conviction in the original case, he would not have been free today.

Aleema continued by stating that upon scrutinizing the case, there should be no doubt arising from Asad Majeed’s statement. She suggested that the 10-year sentence in the cipher case and the treason case would be disregarded, indicating that this case is being manipulated to protect Donald Lu.

Furthermore, she questioned the whereabouts of the nine copies of the cipher, emphasizing the importance of investigating how many have been returned and the current location of the remaining copies.
