Sept 30 last date for income tax returns: FBR

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has uploaded the income tax return forms for the tax year 2022, a press release said on Friday.

Separate income tax return forms for the salaried, association of persons (AOPs), business individuals, and companies have been uploaded. The income tax returns can be filed through FBR’s web portal and Tax Asaan application.

In a press statement, FBR has further stated that taxpayers are provided complete guidance about filling all the required particulars in the form. The income tax returns can be filed online also through smartphones by installing the Tax Aasaan application from Google Play Store.

However, to maximise general awareness, a media campaign will soon be launched for taxpayers’ facilitation and public awareness, it added.

The salaried/business individuals and AOPs can file their income tax returns by September 30, while companies can file according to their due dates. It is pertinent to mention that FBR has surpassed its annual tax collection target and fetched around Rs6,125 billion for the outgoing fiscal year 2021-22 ending on June 30, 2022.

The FBR made more than 52 per cent collection through the import stage while GST collection on the domestic stage witnessed a decrease.

Meanwhile, the FBR increased the tax amount on business class passengers from Rs10,000 to Rs50,000.

Confirming the development, a Pakistan International Airline (PIA) spokesperson said that the tax hike will not affect the price of the national carrier’s tickets because its planes do not have business class facilities.
