Shadab Khan badly hurt in terrible collision during Vitality Blast match

Pakistani all-rounder Shadab Khan playing for Sussex County Cricket Club, hurt himself while making his T20 Vitality Blast debut.

During the game against Somerset, the leg-spinner collided violently with Nathan McAndrew, another member of his side, as he attempted to take a catch. There was a collision when Somerset’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore top-edged a delivery over extra cover on the fourth ball of the seventh over.

Both fielders fell to the ground and required quick medical attention, which caused the game to be stopped for around ten minutes.

A concussion protocol was provided to Shadab before he was removed from the pitch. The cricketer’s health was then kept under close observation. McAndrew finished his four overs while receiving medical attention, including concussion protocol.

Shadab’s condition was updated by Sussex’s head coach, Paul Farbrace, who stated that he had a “bit of a sore neck” but was otherwise well.

He claimed that the physicians had decided it would be best to remove Shadab from the game.

When talking to the two injured cricketers, Farbrace said, “They are both alright, that’s the most important thing.”

He claimed that although things could have been worse, the guys were doing well right now.

Shadab is one of the nine Pakistani athletes competing in this year’s Vitality Blast, which began last week. When it began in June 2003 as the Twenty20 Cup, this competition—now in its 21st iteration—was the first precision T20 league.
