Shaheen Shah Afridi breaks Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s T20 record

In a noteworthy achievement, Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi surpassed India’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar to claim the record for the most first-over wickets in T20 cricket.

Afridi achieved this feat during the opening T20I of the series against New Zealand, dismissing Tim Robinson with a skillful in-swinger.

With this wicket, Afridi’s tally of first-over dismissals reached 47, putting him ahead of other prominent bowlers like Kumar, Mohammad Amir, and David Willey.

Unfortunately, the much-anticipated match between Pakistan and New Zealand was called off due to persistent rain, with only a brief two-ball action possible before the weather intervened again.

Despite efforts from the ground staff, the heavy rain prevented any further play, leading to the abandonment of the match.

The toss was delayed, and despite New Zealand opting to bat first after winning the toss, continuous rain disrupted the proceedings.

Both teams had gathered for the national anthems, but the rain persisted, ultimately leading to the abandonment of the match.
