Shilpa Shetty, Raj Kundra’s assets seized in Bitcoin scam

According to News, properties belonging to Bollywood actor Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra, valued at INR 970 million, have been seized in connection with a Bitcoin Ponzi scheme.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) of India has reportedly attached their residential flat in Juhu, a bungalow in Pune, and Kundra’s equity shares as part of an ongoing money-laundering investigation related to the alleged INR 60 billion Bitcoin Ponzi scheme.

Raj Kundra is suspected of receiving 285 bitcoins, currently valued at around INR 1.5 billion, from the main suspect to establish a Bitcoin mining farm in Ukraine.

The Indian authorities state that a Singapore-based firm, Variable Tech Pte Ltd, received 80,000 bitcoins from investors across India, promising high returns, but failed to deliver.

Instead, the bitcoins were diverted to offshore companies to purchase properties.

Kundra’s involvement in receiving bitcoins for the mining farm is under scrutiny, with investigations ongoing.

It’s worth noting that Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra, married since 2009, have two children together.

Additionally, Kundra faces accusations related to the production and distribution of pornographic content and was arrested by Mumbai Police in July 2021 for allegedly facilitating a porn business under the guise of his company, Viaan Industries Ltd.
