‘Sindh govt won’t leave special persons in the lurch’

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has said that his government is ready to support special persons in every way and shall cooperate with every department, NGO, and organization working to promote and protect the rights of persons with disabilities.

This he said while speaking at an event held by the Department Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities in connection with International Day of Persons with Disabilities at Banquet Hall of the CM’s House.

The programme was attended by representatives of various NGOs working for special persons, businessmen, senior government officers, members of civil society, persons with disabilities and others.

The CM said that his government was committed to transforming the lives of persons having different disabilities’

“Transformative solutions for inclusive development and the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world” is the theme of the day this year.

Shah said that the Sindh government in light of international convention on the rights of persons with disabilities and the constitution of Pakistan have made all out efforts to ensure equality in the province when it comes to self-respect, right to education, health and rehabilitation services.

The CM said that his government had established the Center for Autism Rehabilitation and Training, Sindh (C-ARTS), adding that the scope of the centre would be extended to other districts and divisions.

“The Sindh Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Centre is also a state-of-the-art and magnificent project established in Karachi and soon other campuses would be established in all divisional headquarters of the province,” the CM said and added his government was dedicated to working with renowned non-profit organisations working for disabled persons.

“We want to benefit from your expertise, skills and administrative management for different rehabilitation services, inclusive education, vocational training and employment across Sindh and we are ready to mobilize resources for the good cause.”
