In a recent announcement by Snapchat, a feature that has been long-awaited by users of various messaging apps is finally making its debut, the ability to edit chat messages.

According to the company, this feature will soon become a part of the app initially available to Snapchat Plus users.

Under this feature, users will have a 5-minute window during which they can edit their messages. Messages that have been edited will have a label attached to them indicating to the recipient that the message was altered after being posted.

The company has not specified when this feature will be available to all users but typically, new features on Snapchat are first introduced to subscribers of its subscription services before being rolled out to the general public.

It’s worth noting that Snapchat Plus has a user base of over 9 million.

In addition to message editing, Snapchat is also introducing more features for all users. The company is enhancing emoji reactions for chats and will soon allow the use of the AI assistant for reminders.

Furthermore, Snapchat is introducing a new lens based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) that will transform users photos into images reminiscent of the 1990s.
