Supreme Court grants conditional permission for military courts to issue judgments

The Supreme Court has granted conditional permission for military courts to issue reserved judgments, with a focus on cases where PTI workers may be released before Eid. Attorney General Mansoor Usman informed the court that up to 105 people, including those acquitted or with lesser sentences, may benefit from concessions. However, the court emphasized that this permission is subject to the final decision on appeals.

Additionally, the court accepted the KP government’s request to withdraw appeals related to the annulment of civilian trials. Furthermore, Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar urged authorities to expedite the release of individuals with sentences less than three years, aiming for their release three to four days before Eid. The court adjourned the hearing until the fourth week of April, with instructions for the Attorney General to submit an implementation report.
