Syed Qaim Ali Shah makes history, sworn in as Lawmaker for record 10th time

Syed Qaim Ali Shah has become the only politician of the country to have taken oath as a lawmaker for the record 10th time today.

Mr Shah, who was elected as PPP MPA on PS 28 from Khairpur district on Feb 8 took oath as the member of Sindh Assembly for the 8th time as the member of Sindh Assembly.

The former three-time Sindh Chief Minister, was first elected as MNA in 1970 and then again in 1977 but could not take oath as an MNA, as martial law was imposed in the country by General Zia .

Mr Shah was first elected as the member of Sindh Assembly 1988 and then again in 1990 and 1993 but had lost elections in 1997 against his arch political rival Syed Ghous Ali Shah.

Mr Shah was then elected as the member of the Senate of Pakistan. Mr Shah was again elected MPA in 2003, 2008, 2013, 2018 and now in 2024.

Mr Shah, who was born on September 13, 1928 had also served as the Chairman of District Council Khairpur in the mid 1960s.
