T20 World Cup 2024: Ticket prices for Pak-India clash ‘almost doubled’

Cricket enthusiasts are eagerly anticipating the highly awaited clash between India and Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup, leading to a surge in ticket prices for the much-anticipated match.

Scheduled to commence on June 1, the tournament will feature the face-off between the arch-rivals on June 9 in New York.

According to Daily Jang, ticket prices for this match have nearly doubled, now reaching $2,500 compared to the previous price of $1,300.

The increase in prices is attributed to heightened demand from the large Pakistani and Indian diaspora residing in the US and Canada, all vying to secure a seat at this highly anticipated fixture.

India has a formidable track record against Pakistan in T20 World Cup matches, winning six out of seven encounters, including victories in the final in 2007 and most recently in Melbourne in 2022.

The T20 World Cup will be held across three venues in the US and six in the West Indies from June 1 to 29.

The tournament will kick off with the US facing neighbours Canada at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.

Twenty qualifying teams are divided into four groups of five, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 8 round.

From there, the qualifying teams will be divided into two groups of four, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semi-finals, leading to the final showdown on June 29.

England currently holds the title of defending champions after defeating New Zealand in the final in 2022.
