Tension grips Azad Kashmir as government vehicle burned, section 144 imposed, public holiday declared

Tension escalates in Azad Kashmir as the government vehicle is set ablaze, prompting authorities to impose Section 144 and declare a two-day public holiday for educational institutions.

The Jammu Kashmir Joint Public Action Committee has called for protests, leading to concerns over potential unrest. The Inspector General of Police has highlighted the alleged involvement of Indian agencies in fueling chaos within Azad Kashmir.

With protests looming, the government aims to ensure peace and order, deploying 5,500 policemen to maintain stability. Despite the region’s peaceful reputation, recent events have raised fears of disruption, with tourists deterred and international media reporting on alleged target killings.

In response, the government emphasizes its commitment to dialogue but warns against actions that jeopardize public safety. Meanwhile, clashes between police and protesters erupt in Muzaffarabad, resulting in numerous arrests.
