Tension grips Thatta after clash between PML-N supporters, administrative staff

Violent clashes broke out in Thatta between the supporters of PML-N candidate for NA-225, Rasool Bux Jakhro, and the administrative staff led by the Chief Monitoring Officer.

The chief monitoring officer allegedly dismantled the election camp of PML-N candidate Rasool Bux Jakhro, triggering the clash and leading to tension in the area.

The supporters of Rasool Bux Jakhro gathered at a section of the National Highway and staged a protest against government officials who reportedly subjected two supporters to torture and tore down flags and banners.

Soon, the protests were joined by a convoy of nationalist parties led by Nawaz Shah Bhadai, who termed the incident illegal and stated that these tactics were part of a pre-poll rigging strategy formulated by PPP leadership.

Later, an FIR was lodged against PML-N candidate and his 30 supporters under sections 147, 148, 149, 337-A-1, 353, and 427 of the Pakistan Penal Code on the complaint of the Chief Monitoring Officer responsible for the implementation of the election code of conduct.

The central leadership of PML-N has condemned the atrocity of official authorities and called it a “grave injustice”.
