Three tribesmen shot dead in DI Khan over land dispute

Three tribesmen from Waziristan were shot and killed in the DI Khan district on Thursday over an alleged land dispute.

According to the police, Dost Khan Mehsud was a member of the Mechen Khel sub-clan of the Mehsud tribe when unidentified bike riders opened fire on his motorcar as he was returning home after a Jirga.

Police officials stated that Dost and his friend Malik Ghos Khan died on the spot while Malik Noor Muhammad succumbed to his injuries before reaching the hospital adding that all three had no animosity toward anyone but that there was a dispute over the land where the government is building a small dam and that it could have been the reason for the triple murder.

The family members launched a sit-in after putting the coffin on the road. They urged the police to take action against those responsible for the cold-blooded murder and demanded their arrest.

They also said that growing lawlessness had put the lives of locals in danger.

It should be noted that hundreds of lives have been lost as a result of land disputes since the erstwhile Fata and K-P merged.
