Traders warn country heading towards civil disobedience

Demand lowering of utilities’ prices, stopping of businessmen’s ‘harassment’ by FBR

Central organization Anjuman Tajran Pakistan and Anjuman Tajran City Faisalabad have set up a protest camp at Chowk Ghanta Ghar against the economic crisis and inflation, and the leaders of the trade and industrial organizations of the city participating in it have warned the politicians to take responsibility for the destruction of the country’s economy, rising inflation, unemployment and moral bankruptcy.

The nation is in trouble, the country is moving towards martial law and civil disobedience. If they want to rule with dignity and political shop keeping, and then lower the prices of electricity, gas and petrol, end inflation, uphold merit and ethics and stop harassing businessmen by FBR. And the people and the businessmen should be given the right to live with dignity; otherwise the nation is ready for agitation.

From time to time, loud slogans were raised in the protest camp against the unbearable increase in the prices of electricity, gas, petrol and daily consumption items and inflation and unemployment. And traders from different markets continued to participate in the protest camp in the form of processions. On this occasion, the Patron-in-Chief and President of Anjuman Tajran City Faisalabad Khawaja Shahid Razzaq Sikka said that the country is rich in resources. Despite this, the rulers and politicians have conspired to plunge the country into the darkness of poverty and inflation, and have kept the nation behind flour trucks.

Rejecting the government’s decision to impose new taxes of 170 billion in the mini budget, he said that instead of putting this burden on the people and businessmen, it should be put on the rulers and politicians who have taken these loans for luxury in their respective governments. He appealed to the nation to vote for a party that will make the country corruption-free instead of fugitives and robbers of Tosha Khana in the upcoming elections.

General Secretary Sheikh Saeed, Deputy Secretary Mian Riaz Shahid, Senior Vice-Chairman Mirza Talib Baig, Usama Saeed Awan, Tanveer Riaz, Alhaj Naseer Wohra, Former President of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Rana Sikandar Azam Khan, Chaudhary Muhammad Nawaz were present in the camp on this occasion. Mirza Ashraf Mughal, Lala Moin Sheikh, Shaukatullah, Chaudhry Shahid Nadeem, Ghulam Nabi Butt Chaudhry Ejaz, Abdul Qayyum Anwar, Mian Ashraf Matthu, Mirza Afzal Mughal, Malik Imran, Sheikh Amjad Aqeel, Mirza, Sohail Niaz Toor, Chaudhry Akram, Abdul latif Sial, Basharat Amin, Haji Khalid Mahmood Siddiqui, Aftikhar Mukhi, Imran Majeed Malik, SM Ayub, Haji Nadeem Wohra, Shamriz Somi, Shakeel Jatt, Ahsan Alam Jat, Aamir Hamid Sandi and many others were present.

Addressing the participants of the protest camp, former president of Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce Rana Sikandar Azam said that the current government has made Pakistan a colony of the IMF while maintaining the continuity of the Niazi government, which is less to be condemned. During the Niazi regime, the then governor of Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar was shouting and telling the nation that everything has been written from us to give loans. The painful situation that the nation is facing today confirms this statement of Chaudhry Sarwar word for word.

General Secretary Sheikh Saeed said that we reject the new tax of 170 billion or any mini-budget; it will destroy businesses and put an unbearable burden of inflation on the people, which will increase crimes like suicides and thefts. Mian Riaz Shahid said with great sadness that the PTI government, after coming to power, increased the prices and taxes and plunged the poor and middle class people into the furnace of inflation and today the same thing is being done by the PDM government. Today’s rulers should admit themselves that their governments have failed miserably in providing relief to the people and no one has fulfilled their promise to provide relief to the people.

All the participants present in the protest camp demanded the government to reduce the prices of electricity, gas and petroleum products to give relief to the public?, because due to the payment of heavy utility bills, it has become difficult for the poor people to get two meals a day.
