Tragic bus accident kills at least 19

A passenger bus fell into a ravine in Balochistan’s Zhob, killing at least 19 and injuring 11.

According to police and rescue officials, the ill-fated bus was going from Rawalpindi to Quetta when it plunged into a ravine near Danaser, Shirani District of Balochistan.

The police and rescue officials rushed to the scene of accident from where the injured and dead bodies were shifted to hospitals of Zhob and Mughal Kot.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Shirani has claimed that the accident happened in the limits of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. Identification of the deceased is still under process as no details have been announced.

According to the Medical Superintendent (MS) of Civil Hospital Zhob, Dr. Noorul Haq, the death toll may rise because of the critical conditions of the people injured in incident. Emergency has been declared in the hospital to ensure best treatment.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Arif Alvi, Balochistan Chief Minister Quddus Bizenjo and Punjab Chief Minister Hamza Shehbaz have directed the authorities to do their best in providing medical care to the injured. They have expressed sorrow over the tragic incident and conveyed sympathies to the families of victims of the bus accident.
