Turbat University students complain about admission policy

University of Turbat students have complained about the credibility of the university, saying that it was wasting important years of the students’ lives with its present admission policy.

University of Turbat recently announced admissions for BS and MPhil programs of various departments. After facing severe criticism and demonstrations from the students in Turbat, the varsity announced admissions for Master’s program for one last year. Various students who had passed their bachelors had applied for admission. The university has also announced admissions for the affiliated colleges.

On the other hand, the university has no policy for accommodating the associate degree holders – a degree of two years, equivalent to Bachelors – which Higher Education Commission of Pakistan has recently introduced. Several other universities of the country are offering admissions to bachelors or associate degree holders in fifth semesters of the BS programmes. In other words, it is the only year when UoT is to have Master’s program students, which means after this year, there would be no admissions for Master’s neither is the varsity administration interested in taking students to the fifth semester, claim the students.

Given the situation, students are continuously contacting the UoT administration to either extend the dates for admissions for the varsity and affiliated colleges or assure that it would announce admissions soon after the results of associate degree.

“If the university announces the results before or in February, the students can get admission in affiliated colleges,” said a student who wished to not be named.
