US cricket officials have announced that Stuart Law, a former Australian cricketer, will lead the United States team as head coach for the upcoming Twenty20 World Cup, calling it “an exciting opportunity.”
Law, aged 55 and a former batter, will take charge before a three-match T20 series against Bangladesh next month. The US, along with the West Indies, is set to host the World Cup in June.
While the length of Law’s contract with USA Cricket remains undisclosed, he expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “It is an exciting opportunity to join USA Cricket at this time.”
Having previously coached Bangladesh, the West Indies, and Afghanistan at the international level, Law sees potential in the US team, considering them one of the strongest associate nations in the sport. He aims to build a formidable squad, starting with preparations for the Bangladesh series and then focusing on the upcoming home World Cup.
USA Cricket chairman Venu Pisike praised Law’s appointment, acknowledging him as “one of the most accomplished coaches in the sport.” Pisike highlighted Law’s extensive experience in developing international sides, expressing confidence that his leadership will enable the team to reach its full potential.
