Veteran Sindhi actor Mir Muhammad Lakho passes away

In Karachi, the veteran television and film actor, Mir Muhammad Lakho, breathed his last at the age of 75 after a brief illness at his residence on Monday. Despite dedicating 40 years of his life to the industry, he faced severe financial challenges in his final days.

Known for his remarkable acting prowess, Lakho gained popularity across Sindh with his character “Nabu Kamdar” in Sindhi television plays. In the 80s and 90s, he portrayed the cunning advisor Kamdar in various television plays and Sindhi movies.

Born in the Nawabshah district of Sindh, Lakho later relocated to Karachi due to his deep passion for acting. His notable works include television plays like Wachuro, Jiyapo, Pather Duniya, and Aas in both Sindhi and Urdu.

The artist community, including senior actors like Ali Gul Malah, Raffique Essani, Israr Laghari, Hyderqadri, and others, expressed profound grief at his demise, considering it a significant loss for Sindhi media.

Lakho had gained attention in recent years when videos of him appealing to the Sindh Government for financial assistance circulated on social media. This sparked discontent within the artist community, eventually leading to reported assistance from the culture department.

The acting duo of Mir Muhammad Lakho and Shabiran Channa garnered recognition, especially among the people of Sindh, following the launch of private Sindhi entertainment channels.”
