Virat Kohli slapped with fine for dissent in IPL match against KKR

In a tense encounter between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing IPL 2024 season, emotions ran high as Virat Kohli and Sam Curran came under scrutiny for their actions.

Kohli, the influential figure for RCB, faced criticism from match officials for displaying dissent toward the umpire’s decision after being dismissed in a showdown against KKR.

Despite showing promising form by scoring 18 runs off just 7 deliveries, Kohli expressed frustration after being dismissed by a Harshit Rana slower delivery.

Although initially hoping for a reprieve due to a potential no-ball, the umpires reviewed the decision, ultimately confirming the delivery’s legality and Kohli’s departure.

The RCB captain’s disbelief quickly turned into frustration, leading to a heated exchange with match officials before eventually leaving the field.

Meanwhile, Sam Curran, leading the Punjab Kings, faced disciplinary action after breaching the IPL Code of Conduct during his team’s match against the Gujarat Titans.

Curran was fined 50 percent of his match fee for admitting to the offense under Article 2.8 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct.

Despite the off-field incidents, the match itself provided an exciting spectacle for fans, with Kolkata Knight Riders emerging victorious in a thrilling last-over encounter.

Led by captain Shreyas Iyer’s impressive half-century off 36 balls, KKR displayed a strong all-around performance, securing a hard-fought win over Royal Challengers Bangalore.
