Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s latest Netflix series, “Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar,” is receiving accolades from viewers.

In an interview, the director shared insights into the making of the show, set in pre-independence Pakistani Punjab.

Bhansali expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support from fans in Pakistan, eagerly anticipating the series’ release and its subsequent success.

Reflecting on the series’ historical backdrop, Bhansali remarked, “There was immense anticipation from Pakistan, with people eagerly awaiting its portrayal.

It’s a narrative that unites us, harking back to a time when India was undivided.

These characters belong to both our nations, and the love shown for the series is testament to our shared history.

Despite any divisive elements, I believe we remain interconnected.”

Bhansali also addressed audience feedback, stating, “Criticism is part and parcel of my relationship with viewers.

My work resonates with some and not with others, sparking discussions and debates. I welcome both praise and critique, as it fosters a dialogue between filmmaker and audience.”

The series boasts a stellar cast including Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, and Fardeen Khan.

Released on Netflix on May 1, the series has captivated audiences with its grand narrative.
