West Indies player Russell makes entry in Bollywood

Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell poised to make his Bollywood debut with his first Hindi song titled ‘Ladki To Kamaal Ki’ on May 9, 2024.

The song will feature Avika Gor, known for her role in Balika Vadhu.

Caribbean cricketers have garnered immense popularity in India, with players like Kieron Pollard, Dwayne Bravo, and Chris Gayle becoming legends for various franchises in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Russell, a stalwart of the IPL, has a well-known affinity for Bollywood.

The song will be released under the banner of Voila Dig, known for promoting indie artists. Directed by Palaash Mucchal, the song marks an eagerly awaited venture, with Mucchal being the partner of Indian cricketer Smriti Mandhana.

Mucchal, a promising young director, has previously helmed Bollywood movies like Miss Tanakpur Haazir Ho and Ardh.

Russell’s admiration for Bollywood, particularly Shah Rukh Khan and his films, is well-documented.

He recently expressed excitement for the movie Jawan’s trailer and has been seen singing Bollywood songs like ‘Lutt Putt Gaya’ from the film Dunki alongside Rinku Singh, asserting it as his own song.
