WhatsApp introduces effective feature to save storage

PS:Dunya News

WhatsApp, the world’s most popular messaging app has often faced criticism for rapidly consuming phone storage with the plethora of images and videos exchanged in chats. However, the company has now introduced a unique solution to alleviate this storage issue.

According to a report by the WhatsApp tracking website WABetaInfo owned by Meta, the app has decided to introduce a new feature aimed at addressing storage concerns.

In the beta version of WhatsApp, a feature has been introduced with the purpose of providing device storage optimization. Similar to chat filters in the app’s home feed, three filters for storage management have been added.

These filters namely All, Unread and Groups allow users to easily determine which contacts, channels or groups are consuming the most WhatsApp storage.

To access this feature, users can navigate to Settings, then Storage and Data and then Manage Storage where they can view various statistics.

There users can see these filters below storage details showing how much phone storage each individual account or group’s media files have consumed.

Generally, larger media files are often posted by channels and groups which contribute significantly to phone storage consumption.

While this feature is currently available in beta version, it is difficult to say when it will be introduced for all users.
