World Bank proposes economic and social reforms for Pakistani government

Islamabad: The World Bank has provided recommendations to the Pakistani government for economic and social betterment.

According to the World Bank, a national policy should be formulated for the better upbringing of children subsidies on energy and fertilizers in the budget should be reduced and funds should be allocated for public welfare and development.

In its recommendations, the World Bank has suggested that the government implement austerity measures promote private participation in government companies introduce reforms in the tax system and eliminate duties and sales taxes.

The World Bank has proposed imposing new taxes on land and agriculture establishing long-term trade tariffs and aligning gas tariffs for consumers with supply costs.
