World’s biggest live music event to take place in Sweden next week

The Eurovision Song Contest, the world’s largest live music event, is currently underway in Sweden, featuring 37 countries.

Malmo, the host city, expects around 100,000 visitors for the 68th edition, alongside significant protests against Israel’s involvement due to recent conflicts in Gaza.

The event began with the first semi-final on Tuesday, followed by the second on Thursday, leading up to the Grand Final on Saturday, May 11.

Malmo, Sweden’s third-largest city, is hosting the event for the third time, with previous editions in 1992 and 2013.

Security measures are heightened, with police presence from neighboring countries, and strict regulations on what attendees can bring into the venue.

Voting is a crucial aspect, with viewers participating in the semi-finals and final, alongside professional juries.

The top 10 from each semi-final advance to the final, along with Sweden, last year’s winner, and the “Big Five” contributors to the European Broadcasting Union (EBU), ensuring a total of 26 acts in the final round.
