Yasir Shami surrenders in court for Aamir Liaquat viral video case

YouTuber Yasir Shami, implicated in the distribution of viral videos featuring the late Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain, voluntarily appeared in court on Thursday.

The high-profile case concluded as Shami presented himself before the Karachi City Courts, where the Judicial Magistrate East presided over the proceedings.

Despite the serious allegations against him, Yasir Shami was granted bail upon providing a Rs2.5 million surety bond. Additionally, the court instructed Shami to cooperate with the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and provide his statement regarding the case.

This development comes after repeated summons were issued by the court due to Shami’s previous non-appearance, with legal representatives stressing the importance of his presence in advancing the case. Lawyer Sarkar highlighted the possibility of an arrest warrant being issued if Shami continued to evade court proceedings.

The legal complexities surrounding the viral videos of Dr. Aamir Liaquat Hussain involve multiple individuals, including accused Daniya Shah, who is currently out on bail. Liaqat Gabol, representing Shah, emphasized Shami’s significant role in the case, attributing delays to his actions.

Looking ahead, the upcoming hearing on May 23 is expected to be crucial, as arguments will be presented regarding the confirmation of Yasir Shami’s bail. With the surrender of another accused in the case, the legal landscape is poised to evolve, potentially leading to the filing of an amended charge sheet at the next hearing.
