Shireen Mazari’s arrest: IHC concerned on handing over to Punjab police despite orders

Punjab Police cannot arrest anyone directly from Islamabad, prima facie the Islamabad Police cannot separate itself from it, remarks judge

Islamabad High Court (IHC), during the hearing of the contempt of court petition, expressed concerns over handing over of Shireen Mazari to the Punjab Police despite the court’s order.

Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb heard the contempt of court petition against the arrest of former federal minister Shireen Mazari.

The judge remarked that judges could not go to the talk show, the court is being mocked. He asked the reason of blowing the orders of the constitutional body in the air. This serious matter should be consulted with the Attorney General Higher Authority, he said.

The lawyers standing on the rostrum assured to stand with the court, on which the Islamabad High Court said that the Punjab Police cannot arrest anyone directly from Islamabad, prima facie the Islamabad Police cannot separate itself from it.

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Tuesday had issued a notice to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad in a contempt of court case. The court has sought a reply from IG Islamabad by Monday.
