Azhar Ali backs young Pakistan team amid criticism

Pakistan’s former Test captain Azhar Ali comes forward to show his support for the young cricketers competing against Afghanistan in Sharjah.

Afghanistan defeated an inexperienced and young-looking Pakistan team. Many fans and experts began criticizing the young players after the loss.

In response to the criticism, Azhar pleaded with the audience not to criticize players based on a single bad performance.

He wrote on Twitter, “It is so unfortunate that people on social media straight away start to criticize the selection after a defeat. It’s easy saying things in hindsight. They speak about building bench strength but they can’t even be patient. All these players have the potential to bounce back.”

Afghanistan defeated Pakistan by six wickets in the opening T20 international of a three-game series on Friday, thanks to veteran all-rounder Mohammad Nabi.

Pakistan won the toss and chose to bat in Sharjah Stadium. Nabi finished with 2-12 and was ably supported by Mujeeb Ur Rahman (2-9) and pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi (2-13) to limit Pakistan to 92-9.
