Abdul Razzaq faces backlash for controversial analogy involving Aishwarya Rai

Abdul Razzaq, ex-cricket star, faced criticism for his recent comments about Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai while analyzing the national cricket team’s performance in the 2023 World Cup.

Razzaq’s colleagues, including Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi, applauded his remarks on “Neyat” (intention), using an analogy involving Aishwarya Rai.

Razzaq stated, “If you think that by marrying Aishwarya Rai, a good and pious kid would be born, it would never happen.” His comments stirred anger among netizens, with many terming his words as ‘shameful.’ Social media users expressed outrage at the players who applauded his statement.

Indian users on X suggested, “Build some schools in Pakistan. High time!” Others criticized Razzaq’s mindset, calling it “pure third class.”

Despite the controversial analogy, Razzaq aimed to underscore the importance of sincerity within the cricket board and recommended that the PCB maintain unwavering dedication to player development.
