Abdullah Shafique continues to blaze through the ICC Cricket World Cup

In the ongoing ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023, Pakistan’s opener Abdullah Shafique has displayed exceptional expertise as an opening batsman. In six innings, the 23-year-old has scored 332 runs, including a century and three half-centuries. The right-handed batter scored 68 runs off 69 balls in a recent encounter against Bangladesh, hitting nine fours and two sixes.

Former captains Mohammad Hafeez and Rashid Latif have praised Abdullah Shafique’s batting ability, believing he has the potential to become one of Pakistan’s finest cricket players in the world.

Hafeez lauded Shafique’s beautiful batting approach on a local sports program, calling it “stylish” and suggesting that he may establish records for Pakistan in the future. Likewise, Latif also showered the young batsman with praises, describing him as an exceptional talent with the potential to be among the world’s best hitters in the near future.

Interestingly, Shafique scored his first ever century in the ODI World Cup in his debut match against Sri Lanka. The youngster effortlessly tackled Sri Lanka’s bowling lineup, amassing 113 runs off 103 balls.

It’s worth mentioning that Pakistan’s opening duo of Abdullah Shafique and Fakhar Zaman created a solid platform for their team’s triumph against Bangladesh by building an incredible 128-run partnership while chasing a 205-run total.
