Retired Colonel Qasim Shah, best known for his memorable role as Captain Gulsher in the iconic Pakistani drama Alpha Bravo Charlie, has shared an emotional regret about his late mother. Appearing on Wasi Shah’s talk show Zabardast, the veteran television personality reflected on moments with his parents that he wishes he could change. Qasim Shah became widely recognized after appearing in PTV classics including Sunehrey Din and Alpha Bravo Charlie. Before becoming a familiar face on television, he served in the Pakistan Army for more than 25 years and eventually retired as a colonel. During his recent appearance, Qasim Shah recalled a conversation with his mother that continues to stay with him. He said that on one occasion, he was sitting with her while she talked to him for around 15 minutes. However, instead of giving her his full attention, he remained focused on his mobile phone.

His mother reportedly expressed her disappointment and told him that she did not know how many days she had left. Qasim Shah responded casually, telling her that she was being sentimental and that she was not going anywhere.

Sadly, his mother passed away only around 20 days later.

Looking back, Qasim Shah said that this became one of his greatest regrets. Had he known that their time together was so limited, he would have put his phone away and cherished those precious minutes with her. His experience carries a powerful reminder about how easily people can take ordinary family moments for granted.

He also recalled another emotional incident involving his mother. Before leaving for an event in Pano Aqil, she asked how long he would be away. When he told her that he would be gone for two days, she appeared surprised that he would be away for what seemed like such a long time. When Qasim returned, his mother had passed away.

The retired colonel also spoke about regretting the way he once behaved toward his seriously ill father. He recalled refusing harshly when his father asked to accompany him and his wife to Islamabad. Although he apologized afterward, the memory remained painful for him.

Qasim Shah’s revelations offer a poignant lesson: time with parents is precious, and seemingly ordinary conversations can become priceless memories. His story encourages people to put aside distractions, especially phones, and value family while they still have the opportunity.
