Army vows to ensure all safety measures for safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan

The military pledges to take comprehensive actions to ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Pakistan

In response to the Shangla terrorist attack, which resulted in the deaths of six individuals, including five Chinese nationals, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir has declared that the military will spare no effort to guarantee the safety and security of all foreign citizens, particularly Chinese nationals, who are contributing to Pakistan’s prosperity.

During an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif following the attack on Chinese nationals working on the Dasu Hydel Power Project in Shangla’s Besham city, the army chief reaffirmed the armed forces’ determination to eradicate terrorism in the country.

COAS Munir emphasized that despite the recent surge in terrorist incidents, Pakistan’s enemies have underestimated the resilience of the nation and its people.

He vowed to continue the fight against terrorism until every threat to Pakistan, its people, and its guests is eliminated.

The meeting, attended by federal ministers, chief ministers, chief secretaries, and inspector generals of police (IGPs) from provinces, focused on the attack on civilians working on a development project vital for Pakistan’s energy and water security.

PM Shehbaz expressed condolences to the victims’ families and assured swift justice for the perpetrators.

He highlighted the enduring bond between Pakistan and China and praised the swift response of law enforcement agencies and locals to the attack.

The premier called terrorism a transnational threat aimed at hindering Pakistan’s progress and fostering mistrust between Pakistan and China. Participants of the meeting reaffirmed their commitment to eradicating terrorism and stressed the need for a regional approach to counterterrorism.

The session concluded with a resolve to comprehensively combat terrorism using all available state resources.
