Barrister Gohar denounces ‘Law of the jungle’ amid allegations of media blackout in Pakistan

Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Barrister Gohar Khan, strongly criticized the current state of affairs in Pakistan on Wednesday, condemning what he characterized as a “law of the jungle” prevailing under the current administration.

Speaking to the press outside Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi, Barrister Gohar denounced what he perceived as oppressive tactics employed by those in power, stating that the country was experiencing arbitrary rule reminiscent of a jungle, where those in authority act without accountability.

Expressing concerns over the lack of transparency in legal proceedings, Mr. Gohar stressed the importance of public and media presence during trials, particularly emphasizing the need for scrutiny in what he termed as “illegal trials.”

He highlighted the importance of accountability, citing the recent trial involving the PTI founder as an example of the erosion of due process and the prevalence of unjust practices.

Barrister Gauhar accused authorities of attempting to limit media access to court proceedings, citing instances where journalists were allegedly prevented from covering hearings.

He lamented the lack of transparency surrounding the trial, noting measures taken to impede media coverage, such as the installation of barriers and heightened security measures.

Addressing the PTI’s legal battles, Barrister reiterated the party’s stance that cases against them were politically motivated and lacked substantive evidence. He expressed frustration over perceived delays in judicial proceedings and called for expedited hearings to address their concerns.

In a surprising revelation, he expressed concerns about the health of Bushra Bibi, suggesting the possibility of poisoning. He stated that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had raised these concerns in court, leading to an order for prompt medical examinations.

Regarding speculation about potential dialogue, the PTI chairman clarified that no substantive talks were currently underway. However, he assured transparency should negotiations resume, promising to keep the public informed about any developments.
