Bilawal Bhutto likely to resume role as foreign minister

Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari is poised to reclaim the role of foreign minister as the PML-N and PPP are nearing the finalization of a power-sharing agreement.

Reports indicate that Bilawal will likely join Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet, specifically taking on the foreign ministry portfolio, after initially hesitating.

The details and timing of the PPP’s formal inclusion into the federal cabinet are currently being worked out, with PM Shehbaz aiming for their induction before the presentation of the next budget in June.

Incumbent foreign minister Ishaq Dar is expected to step aside, assuming the role of deputy premier to facilitate Bilawal’s appointment.

This move is seen as advantageous for both Bilawal and the PPP, enhancing their local and international standing. The final decision regarding the PPP’s cabinet participation rests with the party’s Central Executive Committee.
