Boy killed after being reportedly hit by a Maryam Nawaz Protocol vehicle

In a tragic incident, a young man lost his life reportedly in a collision with the convoy of Maryam Nawaz.

The incident occurred in the Chando Valley area of Narowal. The investigation is being conducted to investigate what exactly happened at the site.

Maryam Nawaz has had a history of protocol controversies. Earlier in February, during a workers’ convention in Punjab, she was seen with an extensive convoy, raising eyebrows amidst Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s push for austerity measures.

Despite not holding an official government position, Maryam Nawaz enjoyed VVIP security protocol, traveling with a fleet of 18 vehicles, mostly police mobiles.

The allocation of a signal-jamming vehicle to Maryam Nawaz Sharif by the interim government in Punjab in Nov, 2023 also sparked criticism. However, it was a security measure justified by perceived threats, rather than contingent upon holding a public office.

She was also issued a notice by Lahore High Court (LHC) in 2017 for allegedly using state protocol despite Nawaz Sharif’s disqualification by the apex court.

The petitioner argued that Nawaz Sharif continued to utilize state protocol and the Punjab House despite his disqualification by the Supreme Court. It was pointed out that maintaining a 40-car motorcade for a disqualified individual was a wasteful expenditure of national funds.
