Bursting into Zaman Park

Former prime minister Imran Khan was on his way to Islamabad to attend a court hearing on Saturday when it was heartbreaking to see the police bursting into his home at that time. The Punjab police, which has a bad reputation for using cruel torture on prisoners, not only tortured the employees but also made up stories about finding “ammunition” outside Imran Khan’s Zaman Park home, including petrol bombs. The police claimed that sandbags and bunkers had also been discovered, giving the appearance that the location was off-limits.

He asserted that the police had also located the location where the “petrol bombs were constructed” close to Imran’s home.

The use of police force on political opponents in Pakistan has been a controversial and complex issue. The country has a history of political unrest and instability, which has often led to the use of force by the government against its opponents.

One of the main reasons for the use of police force on political opponents can be to maintain law and order and prevent violent protests or riots. The government often perceives political opponents as a threat to public safety and security and may use force to quell any unrest.

However, the use of police force on political opponents is not always justified and may be used to suppress dissent and opposition. In some cases, political opponents may be arrested, harassed, or even killed for expressing their views or criticizing the government.

The government has been accused of using excessive force and violating human rights in its treatment of political opponents. There have been reports of torture, extrajudicial killings, and disappearances of political activists.

There has been a growing awareness of the need to respect human rights and democratic principles, and there have been some efforts to address these issues. However, the use of police force on political opponents remains a contentious issue, and it is likely to continue to be a source of tension and conflict in the country. This newspaper, however, supports tolerance, and no use of police force on political forces.
