Bushra Bibi’s Sister raises concerns over PTI lawyers’ silence on legal matters

Maryam Riaz Wattoo, the sister of former first lady Bushra Bibi, has raised concerns about the silence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) lawyers on critical legal matters, urging for accountability in this regard.

During an appearance on Samaa TV’s program ‘Nadeem Malik Live’, she expressed dismay over the apparent lack of action from PTI-affiliated lawyers, particularly in important cases like the ongoing Iddat case. Despite numerous court appearances, Wattoo noted the passive approach of PTI lawyers in advocating for the party’s interests.

Highlighting the silence of prominent legal figures within PTI such as Hamid Khan, Latif Khosa, and Ali Zafar, Wattoo urged voters to hold these lawyers accountable for their apparent lack of involvement and transparency.

In regards to ongoing legal proceedings, Wattoo stressed the necessity for PTI lawyers to adopt a more proactive stance, especially in response to recent developments such as judges’ communications. She expressed disappointment at the minimal action taken following such critical messages from the judiciary.

Additionally, Wattoo addressed misconceptions surrounding the imprisonment of PTI’s founder, expressing confidence in his eventual release. She emphasized the importance of a strategic approach to the party’s leadership, cautioning against hasty decisions about replacing the founder.

Furthermore, Wattoo emphasized that those facing imprisonment are not solely PTI workers but individuals with families and connections to the state. She called for a more compassionate understanding of the challenges faced by those affected by legal proceedings and urged for a more empathetic approach towards their circumstances.
